Frequently asked questions
What is Group Space?
One private place for your class, team, or troop: a member directory that fills itself in, events and RSVPs, full-quality photo and video albums, group discussion, and Chip In for shared costs. No Facebook, no ads, no algorithm.
Who is it for?
The parent who organizes a group, a room parent, a team parent or manager, a troop or den leader, or a homeschool co-op coordinator. It is built for adults coordinating a group, not for kids.
Does everyone have to pay?
No. The person who owns a group pays for the subscription; everyone they invite joins for free. One subscription on your account covers the groups you host.
What phones does it work on?
Any modern phone. There is no requirement to be on a particular brand of phone, on Facebook, or on any social network. It also works in a browser on your computer.
Is my group private?
Yes. Groups are invite-only, and your group's content, contacts, messages, event details, and photos, is end-to-end encrypted, so it stays with your group. See the Security page for details.
How do the photos work?
A shared album anyone in the group can add to and download from, at full quality. No likes, no comments, no feed. A photo is just a photo.
How do I start a group?
Create an account, then create your group and invite the families. You are the owner, which means you manage invites, approvals, and settings. The Free tier runs a real group of up to 50 members at no cost.
How do people join a group I have made?
Send them an invite link, or hand out the QR code at your first event. They fill in their own profile and land in a pending state until you approve them, so only people you recognize get in.
I forgot my password. Can you recover my content?
No, and that is deliberate. Your password is what unlocks your keys, and we do not hold a copy of them. You can reset your sign-in, but an organizer has to re-approve you to hand you the group key again. A company that could restore your content would be a company that could read it.
Can I delete my group or my account?
Yes, at any time, from within the app. See the Delete your account page for the exact steps, what is removed, and what is briefly retained.
Is there advertising or tracking?
No ads and no third-party trackers, ever. We do not sell your information. The subscription is what keeps the service running.
Service status
There is no separate status page yet. If something looks broken, email support@group-space.com and we will tell you what is going on rather than leave you guessing.
Privacy, terms, and security
See the Privacy Policy, the Terms of Service, and the security overview for how Group Space handles your data and how the encryption actually works. Children and family data are covered in the Privacy Policy and the Terms.
